Angeliki Earns her PhD with Pioneering Graphene Research for Brain Cancer Therapy!

We are thrilled to congratulate Dr. Angeliki Karakassidi on her outstanding PhD graduation! Angeliki joined the Nanomedicine Lab in 2019 as a prestigious Graphene NOWNANO CDT PhD student, following exceptional academic achievements in Greece (topping her BSc class at Patras and completing an MSc at Ioannina focused on graphene functionalization).

Her doctoral research pioneered biomolecule-functionalized graphene oxide nanosheets for targeted glioblastoma treatment, developed in collaboration with the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience (ICN2), Barcelona. This innovative work harnesses graphene’s potential to advance nanomedicine against aggressive brain cancers.
